A huge dance party with a ‘soul train’ took over the Old Quebec Street Mall. Dance Off! A Celebration of African Roots celebrated African and Caribbean dance, drumming, movement and community on July 12, 2014. The event was hosted by filmmaker and singer Nicole Brooks and the history of the Moko Jumbie stilt dancers was shared. The stilt dancers are a popular part of Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago. Other entertainment included Swizzle Stick Theatre, Heritage Drummers, Real3D’s African and hip-hop dances and the African-Caribbean Antilles Dance Troupe.
