Dear sir:
RE: Negro Cemetery, Concession? Woolwich TWP. (?)
Last month we had occasion to visit the cemetery where some of the early Negro
settlers are buried. A number of the deceased are ancestors of our own family and
until the last few months, we did not know that the cemetery existed or that it
contained some of our ancestors.
This letter is to request that from time to time, the grass and weeds in the small
cemetery be cut also it is requested that we be allowed to place a cross and
appropriate flowers at/near the assembled gravestones.
You are assured that the costs for the cross and flowers and their maintenance
will be borne by the undersigned. The township council is asked to consider this
matter at its early convenience and advise of any decision.
Yours truly
(Miss) Melba Jewell
