Angus Bouman former 4th of peel farmer (now deceased) used to tell how he
noticed a old negro digging a grave at the former black church about 15 miles
north west of yatton. He asked him who’s grave he was digging and was told it was
for his wife who had died, angus then told the old negro to go home and prepare
for the funeral that he would dig the grave. While white people in general took
advantage of the negro, not all were inconsiderate.
